Review Policy

I am currently open to accepting books for review from publishers, publicists and authors. I prefer paper copies, but I will also accept ebooks that are formatted for Kindle (.mobi, .pdf).

I will only accept those books that I think I will enjoy reading, although the range of genres I enjoy is relatively wide. I don’t typically enjoy reading YA, romance, spiritual/religious, or self-help books. Also, I am very picky about self-published books; nine times out of ten, I won’t read them. Friends and people whose work I’m familiar with already are pretty much the only exceptions to the no-self-published-books rule.

My reviews will always reflect my honest opinions. In the event that I accept your book for review on my website, I will give my honest thoughts in my review, even if that means saying that I did not enjoy your book. Regardless of whether it’s a good review or a not-so-good review, I can promise you that it will always be well thought out and mature. I will always give specific reasons for why I felt the way I did about the book and I will always give my thoughts on why other people may or may not like it. In the event that your book just wasn’t for me, I may choose to pass it along to someone whom I think would enjoy it more or I may choose to use it for a giveaway on my site. If you would prefer your book not be passed along as a giveaway (or for any other reason), please make me aware of that when I accept your book for review.

I have a large and ever-growing TBR pile, so I cannot guarantee that I will be able to read and review your book as soon as I receive it. I will do my best to read it and review it as close to the release date as possible, but there are no guarantees. If you have a specific time frame in which you would like your book reviewed, the sooner you contact me before the date you’d like it reviewed, the better. If there is a specific date you would like the book reviewed, I would like to be given ample time to read the book, give it some serious thought and write up the review. In this scenario, sending me the book at least a month in advance would be the ideal goal.

If you’re interested in sending me your book for review, please feel free to email me at ( hlindskold [at] btweenthecovers [dot] com ). Your email should include a summary of the book, the release date, and any links that may give me further information about the book or the author. If I decide that the particular book you’re contacting me about isn’t something that I would enjoy reading and reviewing, or if you don’t hear from me, please don’t let that deter you from contacting me about other books in the future.

H.L.
