Reading Wrap-Up: February 2012

March 1, 2012

Blogs, Reading Challenges

Happy 1st day of March–it’s almost spring! Although, I don’t know why I’m so excited about spring since we didn’t really have any winter to speak of. I don’t know what it’s been like where all of you live, but it’s been pretty spring-like here in Central PA this whole time. Weird.

Well, I read just as many books in February as I did in January, but the books I read in February were considerably shorter. I also strayed from my TBR pile quite a bit, so I need to dig back into it this month. I really wanted to have more reviews done, but my kids gave me a cold last weekend, and I really haven’t felt like doing much of anything for the past four or five days. This is the first cold I’ve had since LAST winter, so I can’t complain, but it turned my brain into a big ball of fuzz, so writing reviews just wasn’t going to happen. Keep your eyes open for a bunch of reviews next week!

Here’s a look at what I accomplished in February:

If you missed the news, Ashley (my 11-year-old daughter) has decided to participate in two of the challenges with me: the Back to the Classics Challenge and the Mount TBR Challenge. She doesn’t have a place to review the books she’s read, so she’s just doing the reading and keeping track of her progress in a notebook.

I’m impressed! I managed five, bring my year to date total to 8! I love though having the impetus to keep reading. I find it’s good for my writing and good for my soul!

Thank you, Fiona! I’ve actually gotten very lucky with all of the time I’ve had for reading these past two months. I agree with you wholeheartedly that reading is good for writing and the soul.

I can’t wait to read your thoughts on The Crucible! Was it a re-read? What did Ashley think of The Witch of Blackbird Pond? I remember reading that book as a child. I hope your cold goes away real soon. Have a great weekend!

I am feeling much better, thank you. Can you believe that I had never read THE CRUCIBLE before? This was my first time reading it. Ashley really liked THE WITCH OF BLACKBIRD POND–she certainly made a lot of comments about it while she was reading it. Haha! I’ll have to ask her for specifics.
